What's your skin undertone?

Are you cool, warm or neutral?

Our guide to help you determine which colours suit you best. Understanding your skin undertone is important to help you choose the most flattering make-up.

Skin undertones - cool, warm or neutral?

  • A cool undertone skin suits silver jewellery best

  • A warm undertone skin suits gold jewellery best

  • Neutral undertone suit both gold and silver

Another check is if a crisp white top is the most flattering for your skin tone you have a cool undertone, whereas if an off-white or cream top is the most flattering for your skin tone then you have a warm undertone. And you guessed it, if you suit both whites and creams then you have a neutral undertone.

Look for pinks in the skin for cool, and you’ll have more of a yellow for warm undertones.

Cool undertone tends to have blueish veins and warm undertone has greenish veins.

Red Lipsticks: If you’re a cool undertone go for blue-red Lipstick, and if you’re a warm undertone go for orange-red Lipstick.

So how does understanding your skin undertone help when choosing a Foundation?

Often you will see in a Foundation description whether it’s best suited to a cool or warm undertone.

It can be frustrating trying to find the right colour foundation, when it looks fine in store, then doesn’t work at all once you’re out in daylight.

TIP: Place 3 colours of Foundation that you think will be about right on your chin. Your chin, because you can see clearly at the front of your face, whereas on your cheek it’s often hard to see which colour is blended the best. Then blend each of the 3 colour out a little and downwards onto your neck. In natural daylight check and choose which one best blends with your chin and neck. That’s the right one for you!
